Administration
Christine Martellio, Assistant Principal
After earning my Bachelors in Science in Mathematics from Framingham State College in 1993, I began my educational career as a High School Mathematics teacher. I was married in 1996 and welcomed my first child, Alex into the world in 1999. I was fortunate to stay home for several years adding to our family with our daughter Morgan in 2001. In 2004, I continued my career as an MCAS tutor and then as Middle School Math teacher, Team Leader and Coach in Uxbridge.
During my years teaching I earned a Master’s Degree in Mathematics Education from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Administration from American International College. I began my journey in Administration at Chocksett Middle School in Sterling where I was an Assistant Principal, Team Chair and 504 Coordinator. I continued in administration as a Principal in Ashburnham at the Overlook Middle School and in 2022, I came back to the Blackstone Valley to be the Assistant Principal at Grafton Middle School.
As educators we are charged with educating the whole child. In order for students to grow and mature mentally, socially and physically, we must provide a safe and stimulating environment guiding students while facilitating risk-taking and hands-on activities; providing adequate time for students to visualize, generalize and generate ideas based on evidence. We must work every day to provide students with quality experiences, incorporate best practices and content standards, promote learning through differentiated instruction, and create challenges through an integrative and exploratory approach. It is imperative in our busy schedules that we not forget our mission to work diligently fostering strengths in both students and colleagues.
